other people who are fabulous just like you

Hi, I found this site through the asperger community on LiveJournal, where I can also be found under the name "bwc1976", and I have a pretty lengthy introduction in my profile there so I won't try repeating it here. But basically I live in the San Diego area with my girlfriend and 4 (sometimes 5) generations of her family, but she and I would like to move to the Seattle area sometime.

For a living I mostly do data entry, but am really into photography and would like to also sell some of my pictures sometime. I have a small but growing portfolio on istockphoto.com, also under "bwc1976".

I first heard about Asperger's in 1994, through Marc Segar's website, although I didn't really think about it that much until I started reading more about it a couple years ago and found the Wikipedia article, the LiveJournal community, and some online self-tests for it, and realized how many other adults still have to deal with the same kinds of difficulties I do, and that it wasn't something I could be expected to simply "outgrow".

I've considered myself a Christian pretty much my whole life, for as long as I knew what heaven and hell were and which one I wanted to go to, although I didn't get serious and start praying on a regular basis until about 1997, or start attending church regularly until 2003. But don't be afraid, I'm not the pushy judgmental type of Christian you may have had bad experiences with before, I don't like that any better than anyone else does, and I know it's not my place to judge anyone else because I'm just as much a sinner as any other human being currently walking the Earth.

Anyway, a big thank you to the person who started this website, and I look forward to getting to know some more of you better.

Hello you :o)

I'll have to check out some of your photos, Brandon... I wish you'd linked some to this thread to save us searching them out... nevertheless... I'll see if I can find them at that other site :o)

EDIT: Yes, as I feared... I couldn't find your photos there... maybe because I wasn't prepared to sign up to the site. Ah well.

Thanks to all of you. What I have on istockphoto is pretty much just the tip of the iceberg. I have a lot of good stuff that can't go up for sale there because it's either too small (1600x1200 is the minimum) or I don't have signed model release forms for people whose faces are recognizable in them. I actually like photographing people most of all. I'll see if I can get around to uploading some of my portrait work somewhere more private to show you guys soon.

Thanks!!!

It's NOT Medusa these are the 3 sirens from Odyssey, they sang until the sailors were desperately in love with the voice they heard and would sail near the rocks that sank their ship and then the sirens ate the sailors! What happened to your classic education Aaryk :-P

Did those three sirens have snakes in their hair? Funny, I thought they were bird women rather than fish and snake women :o) (See attached picture). Weren't they mixed up with mermaids by a semantic accident, post Homer? ;o)

Classic education indeed - ;oP - lol - The Medusa comment was a joke because you had given them snakes for hair :o)

I still really like that drawing though :o)

Hello Me. I thought I was me. I'm surprised more people didn't joke about that. I too am a Christian, born-again. Christians usually say drinking, even in moderation is a sin. I'm not a drinker; but I'm not a complete abstinent, either. As an activist for affordable healthcare in the USA I find many Christians oppose, especially the single-payer, like HR-676. They say we have the world's best medicine; don't tamper with it.

The one, Aaryk, for me being a strong 3 Stooges fan, I find him looking a lot like Curly.

In honesty, I don't see how Christians can oppose universal healthcare system, making a decision that they know will lock their brothers in Christ out.

I will upload an essay, "Why I Believe Christians Should Call For Healthcare Reforms." You have my permission to print it and hand it to pastors. It is not just for Christians. The more readers the better. I, however target Christian because of what I find a paradox, Christians tend to be against a universal healthcare system. What ever happened to caring for the needy?

Hey Brandon, I'm also on aspergers at LJ. I don't post much there, but I read a lot of stuff, and comment when I can. Good to see you here. I'm also a photographer and have considered getting into stock photography, but I hear it's really hard to do. Has iStock been pretty accepting of your work, and are you getting downloads and making some money from it yet? I'll have to check it out. I'm registered at Big Stock Photo, but haven't actually tried to send them anything yet, so we'll see.

I'm one of those that realized later on that I most probably have AS as well (self-diagnosed), and the lightbulb over me went off when I did. Sudden answers for so many things about me. I've only known about AS for about 2 or 3 years, but it's been enlightening to say the least. Anyway, welcome to the group!
