I split my time between Port Jefferson, NY and Montclair, NJ
What are you here for?
just looking, for friends, meeting in real life (possibly)
What do you do for work?
I am currently writing a memoir about my experiences in the world of love, sex, and relationships as a woman with Asperger's syndrome. It's called "The Naughty Autie: Not Your (Neuro)typical Dating Guide." I have sent out query letters to literary agents and hope to soon sell my book to a publisher. I am also a public speaker, having spoken at autism conferences around the country since the age of 14. I most recently gave the commencement address at the Gersh Academy, a school on Long Island for students with autism, Asperger's, and other neurobiological disorders, on June 27, 2008.
Do you belong to a particular religion? If so, which one?
I was raised Roman Catholic, but I don't subscribe to it anymore. My ideas on faith are vaguely spiritual, but nothing overtly religious.
What food do you absolutely HATE?
Mushrooms. It's a FUNGUS, for God's sakes. How do people not realize that?
Describe your ideal person:
Intelligent, sensitive, funny, caring, patient, kind, laid back, passionate. Someone who listens. Someone who won't try to take advantage of me. Someone who isn't a sociopath nutjob. I've had enough of those in my life already, thankyouverymuch.
You're hanging out with friends and having a good time. What are you doing?
Eating Japanese, Indian, Mexican, whatever food, drinking wine or margaritas, having a hilarious yet meaningful discussion on a variety of subjects. We might also be bowling, or walking around town together.
5 things you're really good at:
Writing, cooking, public speaking, editing, figuring out how things work (electronic devices, mostly)
5 things you're not so good at:
Being mean, deciphering office politics, math, figuring out when people are lying to me, sports
When the revolution comes, what will you be doing?
Cooking tasty poisoned pies for the enemies to eat, and smiling innocently when they look up at me as they choke and gasp out their final breath.
Hi Amy....please disregard this email below...it's not just spam, but it looks like another variation of the Nigerian 419 scam....they want money...as soon as I got the email to my email address...i flagged the account....just being justifiably paranoid....

Hi. I sent you a private message. I had a question.
Good luck with your book. You can't be rejected forever. Keep switching up your selling points and try to figure out what the literary agents are looking for before you submit to them.
BTW, I'm still sad that I hurt your feelings, and perplexed as to why you choose to continue to be my friend. I need a different job too.
Hi Amy! Just curious, what are your interests? Mine are all either related to science or science fiction, especially (in the realm of science) ecology and the environment, and (in the realm of science fiction) terraforming and astrobiology (life on other planets). I also like a lot of sci-fi novels and shows. My favorite shows are Stargate SG-1, Farscape, Firefly, and Battlestar Gaglactica. Just wondering if you share any of those interests. On a side note, autism itself has become a perseveration for me.
Hi, I recognized you from LiveJournal. I see we feel exactly the same way about mushrooms. :-] My sister eats a lot of things I won't, but even she won't eat those.
It's ok, I am not online here very often either. I looked at your MySpace page (I normally keep well away from there) and it's awesome. Really well done.
I used to work at a mushroom farm and they are indeed grown in a very clean environment. I don't like to eat them either but I do like the earthy smell of them.
It is nice to see you Amy. I remember you from WP and most of all, I remember your YouTube videos. They were really good. :)
