Do you have pink hair? I'm jealous ;-)

Right now, no. But I highly suspect I will need it when I'm done with university - I don't think I can handle working full time and I will need some accommodations - my own office, etc. Basically, my doctor pressured me into it, a bit. During the...

I would if I could. There are no specialists that are listed in Norway, unfortunately. Thanks, though :)

I personally believe that Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Schizotypy disorders are similar and can actually be related. I know a lot of Autistics who have been disgnosed with Schizoid PD, Schizotypal PD or even Schizophrenia when they are not. Mos...

I've read a few articles online where it is suggested that schizoid and AS should be classified as the same - however, I am no professional, but I see that there are many similarities. The question is whether or not the brain is autistic or not. ...

Sorry mercurygrrl. Sounds like the tester might not know much about asperger's. It is not true that people with asperger's do not want friends. Very many do, including some people who like to be alone a lot of the time. Don't know what schizoid pe...

EEG and my non-seizures

My suspicions that EEG is merely used to rule out epilepsy/other conditions during assessment has proved to be true. I have no history of seizures of any kind (not any that anyone has ever noticed, that is) so I am really "confirmed".

Yay!

The letter part 2

I'd like to make a note of the psychologist having misunderstood some of the parts I said during our conversation. The letter says I've had particular problems with friends in high school, where it should be elementary and middle school, and that I have been married for five years. As I type this up, I'll fix those mistakes, writing the correct information in brackets.

What is it with some people...?!

Thank you! I don't really need help - the only thing they can give me is extra time during exams (and I generally only use half of the alloted time due to writing extremely fast - I have to, if not I lose my train of thought) Tongue So, at the moment I don't see the need for a piece of paper telling me what I already know and what he confirmed.

Maybe you're interested...?'

I was asked if I could write a post on how the interview was conducted, and after I did so for a Norwegian autism-board, I thought I'd translate it.

He started by asking me why, if I've got Asperger's, it was picked up on during my childhood. As I told him, I was a quiet child, I did not act out in any way, and I did what I was told to do (schoolwork, etc). We had children in my class who acted out a lot, but these kinds had/got ADHD-diagnosis. As a quiet girl, I didn't get much attention from… Continue

Hi Mercury Girl,

Disregard the email below you...i just got one, sent an email to this person and it looks like another variation of the Nigerian 419 scam...they are asking for money....don't believe it for a minute...we should flag this person...just being justifiably paranoid....

Hi Mercurygrrl, that is not me on the videos. She does look like me, I thought so when I viewed them for the first time, but I did not make them. I found them on YouTube. Yes, I do have a LJ but I do not write there as often as I should. I write more on my Blogger blog and on myYahoo360 page. The Blogger link is in my page here where it says about my webpage. My Y360 is a bit more personal and I only give the address to people I know a bit more. If you want to read it let me know and I'll send you a private message with the link.

Hi Mercurygrrl, I added you as a friend, and would be honored if you add me, too. What you wrote in your blog about the professor is so common, meaning that men can be easily identified as autistic while women can go unnoticed because of the way our autism manifests. We are different than men, to begin with, our brains are wired to enable empathy and this means that when autism is added to this formula of a pro-empathic brain the result is very diverse than that of men. To begin with we are excellen chameleons, we camuflage ourselves using borrowed items from the personas of others as if they were pieces of garnment, accessories you could say, to alter or enhance our own personality, or even hide it all together. We are much better at adapting, and that also plays a part on why it is so hard to detect and diagnose us.
