This is unfair, and you should call a lawyer! This is totally outrageous, being out of a job because of something that is TOTALLY out of your control! you have my sympathy!

I could quote you word for word and apply it to myself. One thing I have learned is that "they" are all busy being very competitive, all the time. Hence, the talking trash about people behind their back. And as is typical, we have witnessed "them"…

Profile Information

If you were a paragraph of text, what would the paragraph say to describe itself?
Fed up with watersports? Constrained by traditional dominant- submissive roles? Try a more nurturing role: feed me like a baby pelican! Both sexes welcome. I supply the raw herring, you bring the big strap-on beak. No weirdos.
Minimalist seeks woman

Oh, it would also say that Lori B has been doing an awesome job at maintaining this site, and this paragraph thanks her much.

What's the best date you've ever been on?
i've never been on a formal date (cuz i don't go in for formality much), accepting one bizarre entrapment in which a boy took me to a rat-infested viatnamese restaurant and then tried to kiss me in his car while his stereo played country music. i was 21 at the time. i spilled my hot chocolate, he laughed at me, we never hung out again.
Describe your ideal person:

You're hanging out with friends and having a good time. What are you doing?
if you would've asked me in my twenties, i would've said we just came from an awesome softball game and we're now in a mixed (gay/straight/boy/girl) bar, getting trashed, and having group makeout sessions. now that i'm in my thirties, i have no idea. i've been having this mighty hankering to go miniature golfing, however.

When the revolution comes, what will you be doing?
sitting in my rented sublet room, staring at the wall

if you're experiencing bugs with this site, let us know

for instance, both i and another member have had separate instances where we haven't been able to use the messaging tool (both of us using safari on a mac). this site is built using a free third party social networking app, so there's not much we personally can do about some bugs, but some of the problems we might be able to fix.

woohoo!

i'm sorry, i'm being so perky excited and all awestruck. haven't had internet in 2 days or so, was at 9 members then, came back late tonight (or 1am early morning) to find 33 members. all sorts of happy, perky, or however the heck you want to be (even if you're not happy and perky, cuz who says you need to be) members.

a very good thing. =) thank you all, from the bottom of my san francisco, storm-struck (it's been swamped and raining like crazy here, power out all over the place) heart… Continue

thanks to all who've joined us so far!

you guys totally rock. i especially appreciate the comments you're leaving for each other and the new photos. see, i'm not the only one who can contribute this site's content, others have the power! =)

given this site started a week ago, and we have 9 members already, and that was considering very few people were told about it, i think we might have something pretty cool in the future. thanks again.

different ways to upload videos (even ones on youtube)

here's a cool thing you may not know: you have the option of uploading videos if you're a member, obviously. i personally would like to see a whole bunch of videos representing the diversity of people on the autistic spectrum, showing that we're a diverse, fascinating group of people. i want people struggling with the realization that they may be on the spectrum to be able to come to this site and see pictures and videos of other people on the spectrum and say, "wow, these people are actually pr… Continue

it all began with an idea...

lori and i had a great idea (discussed over drinks at the white horse about a week before christmas) about creating a social hookup site just for people with asperger's syndrome... actually, any adult on the autistic spectrum. we brainstormed for an hour or so, thinking: is this something that is needed? if we build it, will they come?

at this moment in time, dec 27, 2007, this site is in its testing phase. lori, awesome person that she is, is helping me by finding people she thinks wo… Continue

this site is using a... i'm trying not to speak too geek, but not sure i can, given it being a monday. this site is using a service found at ning.com, it's an awesome (free) utility enabling anyone to create a social networking site. basic features included in a general ning site are forums, photo galleries, video uploads, comments, etc. for being free, it's rather impressive.

i spent probably a night or two days creating the site, customizing, setting it up. then maybe... i dunno, 12-20 hours adding additional features, edits, etc. i unfortunately am not the kind of person good at managing a social community, given i'm so antisocial and keep to myself, and my friend lori and i definitely found the good-natured humor in creating a social networking site for people for whom a defining trait is not being into social networking. =)

but my and her original purpose still stand, to at the very least have this be a site where people on the autistic spectrum who identify as wanting to socialize, though not necessarily being "good" at it, they could put a profile up, add a photo, so that others like them can find this site and see that they're not alone.

thanks for the kudos, by the way.
